What is TRND?

Pacer Trendpilot Fund of Funds ETF is an index-based exchange traded fund (ETF) that is composed of Pacer Trendpilot US Large Cap ETF, Pacer Trendpilot US Mid Cap ETF, Pacer Trendpilot 100 ETF and Pacer Trendpilot International ETF. Each of the Pacer Trendpilot ETFs is an index-based ETF that seeks to track the total return performance, before fees and expenses, of the underlying Trendpilot Index. Each Trendpilot Index uses an objective, rules-based methodology to implement a systematic trend-following strategy that directs exposure (i) 100% to the 'Equity Component' specified in the table below, (ii) 50% to the applicable Equity Component and 50% to 3-Month US Treasury bills, or (iii) 100% to 3-Month US Treasury bills, depending on the relative performance of the Equity Component and its 200-business day historical simple moving average (the '200-day moving average'). The calculation of the 200-day moving average for each Equity Component is based on the total return version of such Equity Component and reflects the reinvestment of dividends paid by the securities in such Equity Component.

Correlation is a measure of the strength of the relationship between two ETFs. It quantifies the degree to which prices of the two ETFs typically move together.

Here, correlation is measured over the past year with the Pearson correlation coefficient (Pearon’s r), which ranges from -1 to 1.

Using ETF correlations in portfolio and strategy construction

ETF correlations can help you create investing strategies and portfolios. Use them to:

  • Build a diversified portfolio from uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETFs with the aim of minimizing portfolio risk.
  • Compare correlated or related ETFs to find one with a lower expense ratio or higher trading volume.
  • Create an investing strategy that hedges an ETF with an uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETF.
