About

A daily, rules‑based natural‑gas strategy that flips between long (UNG/UNL or BOIL) and short (KOLD) using simple “heat‑meter” signals from other markets plus a fast tiebreaker. Designed as a non‑correlated sleeve. Extremely volatile and concentrated; large drawdowns possible.
NutHow it works
Each day the algo checks market “thermometers.” If the broad commodity index (DBC) looks washed‑out on a 0–100 heat meter (RSI), it buys natural gas (UNG/UNL). If some hot stock groups look overheated, it bets against gas with KOLD (−2x). If neither, it runs a quick 3‑day race (PFF vs VMBS) to choose long (UNL/BOIL) or short (KOLD). UNG/UNL=nat‑gas, BOIL=+2x gas, KOLD=−2x, DBC=commodities, PFF=preferreds, VMBS=mortgages.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample tested, daily, rules-based natural gas strategy. Historically low correlation to the S&P and a distinct return stream that can help cushion drawdowns in equity downturns while offering potential upside from NG swings.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
