A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A daily, hedged swing strategy. It compares bonds vs Nasdaq to set risk‑on/off, buys recent laggards among sector/index ETFs—or their inverse/leveraged versions—for a short‑term bounce, and can fall back to a safety basket or just QQQ.
NutHow it works
Daily it compares AGG (broad US bonds) vs QQQ (big tech‑heavy stocks) using RSI—a simple gauge of recent up‑vs‑down days. If bonds lead (risk‑off), it leans defensive; if Nasdaq leads (risk‑on), it leans offensive. It then buys a few ETFs from tech, small‑caps, real estate, semis, EM—or their inverse/leveraged versions—picking 4‑day laggards for a bounce. A top filter holds the best of: this engine, a safety basket (Dow/low‑vol/Treasuries/T‑bills), or plain QQQ. ~10% may stay in cash.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: 23.28% annualized return vs SPY’s 20.56%, with a 0.53 beta and Calmar ~1.06. A daily, hedged regime-switching strategy that buys laggards across bonds and tech for higher upside with controlled downside vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
