About

A daily, rules‑based portfolio with three layers: a crash‑catcher that briefly buys UVXY when fear builds; a TIP “canary” to flip risk‑on/off; and a top‑4 momentum sleeve across stocks, bonds, real estate, and commodities. Cash/T‑bills (BIL) is the fallback.
NutHow it works
Daily, it stacks three checks: 1) Trend: is the S&P 500 (SPY) above its 200‑day average? 2) Crash‑catcher: RSI is a 0–100 “heat meter” of recent speed. If leveraged stock funds look overheated or if UVXY’s RSI spikes, it buys UVXY (a fear/VIX fund) briefly; if SPY looks washed‑out (RSI<30), it hides in T‑bills (BIL). 3) Canary + momentum: If TIP’s 12‑mo return ≥ 0, own the top 4 trending ETFs (from QQQ, SOXX, SPY, TLT, IEF, DBC, VNQ, EEM, EFA, IWM, BIL) using 12/6/3/1‑mo lookbacks; else hold BIL.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy trims drawdowns (14.2% vs 18.8% SPY), yields strong risk-adjusted returns (Calmar ~1.28) with lower volatility and diversified upside across assets—offering steadier growth and less downside than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
