About

A rules-based, high-octane portfolio that rides stock uptrends (heavy tech), cools off when markets overheat, and hedges or shorts in downturns. Adds momentum sleeves in bonds, volatility, energy, commodities, and the US dollar. Expect big swings.
NutHow it works
Goal: ride uptrends, step aside when markets look “too hot,” hedge in downtrends. - Trend gate: if the S&P 500 (SPY) is above its 200‑day average (a long‑term trendline), own growth (QQQ/TQQQ/SPY). If momentum looks overheated (RSI—hot/cold gauge—high), shift to cash‑like Treasuries or volatility hedges (UVXY/VIXY). - If below, go defensive (SHV/SHY, TLT/TMF) or use mild shorts (PSQ/SQQQ/SH). - Side sleeves add momentum in energy (XLE/XOP/oil), commodities (DBC/DBA/GLD), natural gas (FCG), and the US dollar (UUP).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: 18.90% annual return vs SPY 18.60%, drawdown 14.75% vs 18.76%, beta 0.90, Calmar 1.28. Slightly higher growth with notably lower risk and diversified sleeves—growth with downside protection.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
