What is FAN?
First Trust Global Wind Energy ETF is an exchange-traded fund. The investment objective of the Fund is to seek investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield, before the Funds fees and expenses, of an equity index called the ISE Clean Edge Global Wind Energy Index. Companies in the index universe that are identified as providing goods and services exclusively to the wind energy industry are given an aggregate weight of 66.67% of the index. Those companies determined to be significant participants in the wind energy industry despite not being exclusive to such industry are given an aggregate weight of 33.33% of the index. This weighting is done to ensure that companies that are exclusive to the wind energy industry, which generally have smaller market capitalizations relative to their multi-industry counterparts, are adequately represented in the index. - •Build a diversified portfolio from uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETFs with the aim of minimizing portfolio risk.
- •Compare correlated or related ETFs to find one with a lower expense ratio or higher trading volume.
- •Create an investing strategy that hedges an ETF with an uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETF.
