A fast-moving strategy that rotates between U.S. stocks, bonds, gold, and emerging markets, often using leveraged or inverse funds to amplify gains or defend against falling markets.

This strategy checks every day whether U.S. stocks look stronger than bonds, gold, or emerging-market stocks. It uses simple trend and momentum tests: is price above its long-term average, and has it been rising or falling lately? If stocks look strongest, it buys the S&P 500 or a turbocharged version of it. If not, it may switch into long-term bonds, gold, emerging markets, bearish funds that rise when markets fall, or very short-term Treasury bills.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
