A 4-part tactical strategy that rotates among stock indexes, bonds/cash, and inverse ETFs based on a short-term momentum score, trying to stay invested in strong markets and turn defensive when markets look stretched or risky.

The portfolio is split into 4 equal parts: the S&P 500, Nasdaq, small-cap stocks, and semiconductor stocks. Each part first checks a bond or cash fund as a market “safety signal.” If that signal looks okay, it owns the stock fund unless that stock fund has run up too hard lately—then it buys an inverse fund that goes up when that market falls. If the safety signal looks weak, it may park that slice in bonds/cash instead.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
