About

A daily, cash-equal, momentum-driven bet on small-cap exposure using leveraged ETFs (or hedges) based on Russell 2000 momentum and trend signals. It can switch between small-cap bull, small-cap bear, or Treasury leverage, with hedges like gold or inverse Russell as conditions warrant.
NutHow it works
- Start with 100% of your capital available to invest for the day (cash-equal, fully invested into one asset). - Look at the momentum of the Russell 2000 through RSI on IWM (10-day window). - If RSI(IWM, 10) is below 65: allocate 100% to TNA (small-cap bull 3x). - Else if RSI(IWM, 10) is above 75: allocate 100% to TZA (small-cap bear 3x). - Else: allocate 100% to TMF (Treasury bull 3x). - There are additional layers that adjust the choice based on price relative to long-term trends (e.g., IWM vs its 200-day moving average) and other assets (RWM, GLD, QQQ, BND, RINF). These act as hedges or alternate tilt options depending on the signal mix, aiming to reduce downside or capture different market regimes. - Rebalance happens daily, so each day you pick one asset to own and you adjust to that single exposure. - Because the strategy uses leveraged ETFs and daily rebalancing, it can experience large swings and is best understood as a high-risk, high-tilt approach rather than a steady, diversified core strategy.
CheckmarkValue prop
High-upside momentum strategy: daily cash-equal tilt to small-cap (3x) or Treasuries with hedges. Out-of-sample annualized return ~38% vs S&P ~18%, plus hedges to limit losses. Higher potential, but with substantial drawdown risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
