About
A daily, tactical gold‑miner strategy: fade extreme strength (short with GDXD), buy only specific oversold washouts (GDXU), otherwise sit in cash (BIL). Uses QQQ and TLT as market “thermometers” to refine entries.
Tickers used: GDXU/GDXD = 3x up/down gold‑miners ETFs; BIL = T‑bill (cash) ETF; QQQ = big‑tech index ETF; TLT = long‑bond ETF.
Each day a 0–100 “hot/cold” gauge on GDXU drives trades: if very hot (>79) short miners (GDXD). If very cold (<30) then: if tech’s 90d trend > its 70d, try long miners only if miners’ 70d < 75d; else cash. Otherwise, if stocks beat bonds (QQQ 35d > TLT 95d) short miners; else cash. Exposure: miners or cash.
Out-of-sample, this tactical miner strategy delivers about 87% annualized return vs the S&P 500’s −8.8%, with a positive Sharpe (~1.19 vs −1.01) and a Calmar around 5.3. Cash ballast plus regime filters aim for higher upside with controlled risk.
