About

A daily biotech swing strategy that switches between 3x long (LABU) and 3x short (LABD) using recent-strength signals from the S&P 500, small-caps, and Treasuries. Invests ~70%, keeps ~30% in cash. Very high risk/volatility.
NutHow it works
Daily, it puts about 70% into one fund: LABU (tries to triple biotech up days) or LABD (tries to triple biotech down days); the rest stays in cash. It uses recent-strength scores (0–100: higher = price has been rising) on SPY (S&P 500), IEF (Treasuries), IWM (small-caps), and TMF (3x Treasuries). If SPY looks very “hot,” a bond check can flip the rule. Otherwise: long biotech when Treasuries look stronger than small-caps; short when small-caps look stronger.
CheckmarkValue prop
Biotech swing strategy offers outsized OOS upside: ~58% annualized return vs ~19% for the S&P. ~28% cash buffer with ~2.2x net exposure. Higher drawdowns (~68%), but Calmar ~0.87 signals competitive risk-adjusted performance.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
