About

A tactical Japan strategy: ride the long-term uptrend with a 2x Japan fund, flip briefly to a volatility fund when the move looks too hot, and in downtrends rotate among short Japan, US Treasuries, or the Yen, with a small cash-like safety switch.
NutHow it works
Key pieces: EWJ=Japan stocks; EZJ=2x Japan; EWV=-2x Japan; UVXY=volatility; TLT=US long Treasuries; FXY=yen; BIL=T-bills. RSI: 0–100 “hot/cold” gauge. Moving average: avg price over X days. Rebalanced daily. First, if Japan (EWJ) is above its 200-day average, hold EZJ unless RSI is very high, then briefly use UVXY. If not, a small (~15%) slice can park in BIL when volatility heats up, and the rest rotates among EWV, TLT, or FXY by short‑term strength. Main exposures: Japanese stocks, US Treasuries, yen, cash; plus a tactical volatility ETF.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe ~3.01 vs S&P ~1.66, Calmar ~12.4, and annualized return ~140% vs ~20%. A Japan-tilted, trend-following strategy with a volatility overlay and risk controls for higher, safer risk-adjusted gains than the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
