About

Monthly, rules‑based risk‑on/risk‑off strategy. A bond‑trend switch and a panic override shift between aggressive stock bets and defensive hedges, while a 20% sleeve buys two oversold ETFs. Uses both long and short (often leveraged) funds.
NutHow it works
Monthly, rules‑based switching: 1) If the S&P 500 just fell hard, move into a “panic” mix of Treasuries, volatility funds, and stock hedges that are holding up (ranked by RSI—a short‑term hot/cold meter). 2) Else, use the bond trend (long vs short bonds). If long bonds lead → buy the most oversold leveraged stock funds; if not → hold hedges suited to rising or falling rates (gold, dollar, short stocks/bonds). 3) Separately, 20% buys two oversold ETFs.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: 26.5% annualized return vs SPY’s 23.6%; higher upside from adaptive risk-on/off regimes and hedges. Drawdown ~45% vs SPY’s ~19%; suited for investors willing to endure larger dips for greater long-run gains.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
