About

A rules-based, volatility-aware swing strategy. It rides strong stock trends with leveraged equity and short‑volatility positions, but flips quickly to cash, inverse funds, Treasuries, gold, managed futures (KMLM), or long‑volatility when markets overheat or break.
NutHow it works
Goal: ride stock uptrends, cut risk fast when danger rises. Signals: 1) Trend (is SPY above its 200‑day average?). 2) Speed/heat (RSI, a 0–100 speedometer; >~80 overheated, <~30 washed out). 3) Panic brakes (sharp recent losses in short‑vol). Calm/uptrend: holds leveraged US‑equity funds or short‑vol (SVXY). Hot or falling: shifts to cash (BIL), inverse equity, long‑vol (VIXY/UVXY), Treasuries, gold, or energy; sometimes a low‑beta pair trade (BTAL). It also checks semis (SMH) vs KMLM, a managed‑futures trend fund; if broad trends beat tech, it leans defensive.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample Sharpe 2.05 vs 0.98; OOS return 86.8% vs 18.5%; Calmar 4.27. A volatility-aware strategy that flexes between leveraged equities and hedges to capture upside while limiting drawdowns—delivering higher risk-adjusted returns than the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
