About
A high-risk strategy that either bets against the U.S. stock market when fear is surging, or else buys the single strongest recent winner among Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Exxon.
Each day, the strategy first checks whether market fear has been unusually strong lately by looking at VIXM, a fund tied to stock-market volatility. It uses a simple “heat gauge” called RSI: higher means stronger recent upward movement.
If that fear gauge is very high, it buys SPXU, a fund that aims to go up when the S&P 500 falls.
If not, it buys just 1 of 3 choices—the strongest recent performer among a Microsoft-linked fund (MSFU), NVIDIA (NVDA), and Exxon Mobil (XOM).
Out-of-sample edge: 22.89% annualized return vs SPY ~20.96%, via momentum picks (MSFT, NVDA, XOM) and a volatility hedge during fear spikes. Higher upside with a disciplined, rule-based approach—though drawdowns can be large in crises.
