About

A rules-based, defensive strategy. If markets look weak over the last month, it holds one strong bond fund. If conditions look okay, it keeps that bond fund and adds the six best performers from a global mix of stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities, and gold.
NutHow it works
Monthly: check 1‑month returns. If EEM (emerging markets) fell or AGG (broad US bonds) fell, go 100% into the strongest “safe” bond ETF: SHY (1–3y Treasuries), IEF (7–10y Treasuries), or LQD (investment‑grade corporates). Otherwise, put 50% in that best “safe” ETF and 50% equally in the six strongest from: SPY, IWM, QQQ, VGK, EWJ, EEM, VNQ, DBC, GLD, TLT, HYG, LQD. Rebalance monthly.
CheckmarkValue prop
Defensive, rules-based strategy with superior risk-adjusted results. Out-of-sample: Sharpe 2.33 vs SPY 1.41; drawdown 3.22% vs 13.73%; Calmar 4.83. Lower downside, steady growth—clear edge over the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
