About

A daily-rebalanced, four-ETF growth portfolio that evenly splits money among IWY, QQQ, XLG, and SPMO to capture large-cap growth and momentum in US equities.
NutHow it works
Zoop's Growth Portfolio is a rule-based, four-ETF growth strategy. It uses a wt-cash-equal method to allocate the entire investment evenly across four ETFs each trading day. The four ETFs are: IWY (iShares Russell Top 200 Growth ETF) which targets large US growth stocks; QQQ (Invesco QQQ Trust) which tracks the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100; XLG (Invesco S&P 500 Top 50 ETF) which holds the 50 largest S&P 500 stocks; and SPMO (Invesco S&P 500 Momentum ETF) which focuses on stocks with positive price momentum. On a daily basis, the portfolio is rebalanced so each ETF has the same dollar value in the portfolio. In practical terms, if you have a $10,000 investment, you would aim for about $2,500 in each ETF after fees (ignoring bid-ask spreads and taxes). The strategy emphasizes growth and momentum exposure, relying on the performance of large US companies, particularly in technology and other high-growth sectors. Because it trades every day to maintain equal weights, it can incur higher trading costs and taxes and may be more volatile than more diversified or longer-horizon approaches. It does not include non-US assets or bonds, so diversification is focused entirely on US equities. The core idea is simple: if growth and momentum are driving the market higher, this portfolio seeks to participate evenly across four leading growth/momentum ETFs.

Out-of-sample data show this four-ETF Growth Portfolio capturing more upside in growth rallies and smoother risk than the S&P 500, via a simple, rule-based daily equal-weight rebalance across IWY, QQQ, XLG and SPMO.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
