A very aggressive, one-position-at-a-time strategy that buys leveraged stock funds on dips, hedges with VXX when markets look overheated, and falls back to staples or bonds in weaker markets.

This strategy always puts all its money in just one idea at a time. 1) If semiconductors, the Nasdaq, or the S&P 500 have fallen hard recently, it buys a matching 3x bullish fund to bet on a rebound. 2) If many stock areas look too overheated, it switches to VXX, which tends to rise when market fear jumps. 3) Otherwise, if the market is in a long-term uptrend, it picks the strongest 3x stock fund from a short list of sectors and indexes. 4) If the market is not in an uptrend, it hides in either consumer staples or a bond fund.

Exhibits much higher out-of-sample upside: about 70% annualized return vs SPY around 16%; better risk-adjusted metrics (Calmar ~2.14, Sharpe ~1.17) and positive alpha. But it's concentrated, levered exposure with larger drawdowns (~32%).
