This strategy uses very volatile tech funds as warning signals, but usually does not buy them. If the broad US market is in a healthy long-term uptrend, it prefers growth investments like QQQ or a QQQ/SPMO mix. If the market looks overheated, panicky, or recently damaged, it shifts to a safer mix: short-term bonds (BSV) and steadier stocks (SPLV). If the broad market is in a weak long-term trend, it becomes more cautious and only buys stock indexes after sharp selloffs that may be ready to bounce.
