About

A tactical, near‑market‑neutral strategy that times “fear vs calm.” It hedges after big run‑ups (VIX + Treasuries), buys sharp dips with small leveraged bets, and otherwise holds a diversified, low‑beta mix of short/long VIX, Treasuries, gold, and dividend stocks.
NutHow it works
It watches a 0–100 “heat gauge” (RSI) on big stock indexes. If stocks look very hot, it flips into crash‑hedges: VIX‑linked ETFs (UVXY/VIXM) and long Treasuries (TMF/TLT). If fear is already high, it holds safe havens (Treasuries, short‑term Treasuries, gold). If stocks just fell hard, it buys the dip with small, fast bets (leveraged tech/S&P) and/or bets that calm returns (SVXY). Otherwise it sits in a neutral, dividend‑tilted mix (SVXY, VIXM, BTAL, SCHD). A 15% sleeve adds extra hedges when markets run hot.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this tactical market-neutral strategy delivers higher risk-adjusted return (Sharpe 1.63 vs 1.41), higher annualized return (23.0% vs 22.5%), and far smaller drawdowns (9.3% vs 18.8%), with Calmar 2.47, beating the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
