XLE Venezuela Auto-Exit
Today’s Change

About

Daily tactical energy trade: own XLE (U.S. energy stocks) only while price is above its 20‑day average and the 5‑day change is positive; otherwise hold BIL (cash‑like T‑bill ETF). Aims to ride Venezuela‑driven strength and exit quickly on weakness.
NutHow it works
Each day it switches between two funds: XLE and BIL. XLE holds large U.S. energy companies; BIL is a cash‑like fund of very short‑term U.S. Treasury bills. It owns XLE only if (1) today’s price is above its average over the last 20 trading days and (2) the last 5 trading days’ total change is positive. If either test fails, it moves to BIL to protect gains.
CheckmarkValue prop
Rule-based energy overlay: stay in XLE only on uptrends and switch to cash fast, offering disciplined risk control and diversification from SPY. Out-of-sample returns are lower than the S&P 500, but the rules are transparent and risk-managed.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
