About

Daily tactical energy strategy. Holds XLE in uptrends, shorts energy with DUG when price looks overheated, buys XLE on deep selloffs, or parks in T‑bill ETF (BIL) when conditions are iffy.
NutHow it works
Trades only energy. XLE = energy-stock ETF; DUG = −2× inverse energy (rises when energy falls; short-term use); BIL = T‑bills. Long-term filter: if XLE’s 50-day avg > 200-day, bias long; else cautious. When XLE looks overheated (RSI, a 0–100 “heat” score, very high), flip to DUG; when washed-out (RSI very low), buy XLE. If weak but not oversold, sometimes sit in BIL. Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Energy-focused tactical strategy riding XLE trends and using DUG for fades, offering diversification when energy moves with different dynamics than the S&P. OOS: -5.6% annualized, 28.5% max drawdown. Best as a satellite, not core.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
