A very aggressive daily strategy that uses bonds vs risky stocks to judge market mood, then makes a contrarian one-fund bet on a recently beaten-down leveraged or inverse ETF.
NutHow it works
This strategy first asks: are investors acting more fearful or more daring right now? It compares recent strength in Treasuries (IEI, a safer bond fund) versus high-volatility stocks (SPHB, a riskier stock fund). Then it picks just 1 fund to hold from a list of very aggressive funds. Oddly, it usually does the opposite of the market mood signal: if safety looks stronger, it buys a recently weak aggressive fund; if risk looks stronger, it buys a recently weak bearish fund. So it is a short-term rebound bet, rechecked every day.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
