About

Buys a 3× S&P 500 fund when fear is easing or the S&P 500 is oversold; otherwise parks in T‑bills. Uses VIXY’s 9‑day trend and a 10‑day RSI filter. Rebalanced daily.
NutHow it works
Each day: If VIXY (tends to rise when fear/volatility jumps) is below its 9‑day average, buy SPXL, a fund that targets 3× the S&P 500’s daily move. If not, but the S&P 500 looks oversold (RSI over 10 days below 30—i.e., a short‑term slump), still buy SPXL. Otherwise hold BIL (short‑term T‑bills). Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~38% annualized return vs SPY’s ~16.7%, Sharpe ~0.96, Calmar ~1.25. A regime-timed 3x SPXL strategy that buys on fear dips and otherwise stays in cash/T-bills—turbocharges upside with disciplined risk control.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
