About

Rules-based gold strategy using moving averages and RSI to buy dips and fade overheated spikes. It switches among 2x long gold (UGL), −2x gold (GLL), miners, or cash-like T‑bills, with daily rebalancing and trend filters to limit fighting big moves.
NutHow it works
Goal: ride gold’s trend and trade its swings. It tracks trend with moving averages (avg price over X days) and “hot/cold” with RSI (0–100; <30 washed‑out, >70 overheated). Rules: if trend up and not hot, buy gold (often 2x UGL). If too hot, hedge/short (−2x GLL). On sharp dips, buy for a bounce (UGL/NUGT). If trend weak/choppy, park in T‑bills (BIL/SHV/SHY) or sometimes use miners (GDX, NUGT/JDST/DUST), USD (UUP), value stocks (SPYV) or short‑vol (SVXY). Rebalances daily; uses several sleeves.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this gold‑centric strategy beats the S&P 500 on risk-adjusted terms: Sharpe ~2.20 vs ~1.48, Calmar ~6.57, and annualized return ~103.7% vs ~31.4%, with ultra-low beta (~0.08) for steadier exposure.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
