About

A weekly, risk-on/risk-off S&P 500 strategy. If volatility isn’t spiking, it gradually adds 2x and 3x S&P exposure based on five bond‑market momentum checks; otherwise it sits in T‑bills. Max exposure ~2.5x SPY; otherwise scales down to cash.
NutHow it works
Weekly check. If the “fear gauge” (VIXY) isn’t overheated, the portfolio turns on its stock engine; if it is, it parks in T‑bills (BIL). When on, it splits into two halves: one uses 2x S&P (SSO), the other 3x S&P (SPXL). Five simple bond‑vs‑stock momentum checks decide, slice by slice, whether each half holds stocks or T‑bills. More checks passing = more stock exposure. Max exposure if all checks pass is about 2.5x the S&P 500; otherwise it scales down toward cash.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy aims for ~32.8% annualized return vs SPY's ~22.5%, with a ~1.10 Calmar and up to 2.5x SPY exposure. It gains in favorable markets but manages risk by gating during volatility spikes; higher drawdowns possible.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
