About
An aggressive, daily-traded strategy built around TQQQ. It tries to ride big tech rallies, reduce risk when markets look overheated, and shift to defensive or hedge positions when conditions weaken.
This strategy checks the market every day and mostly tries to own TQQQ, an aggressive fund that aims to deliver 3x the daily move of the Nasdaq-100 (big tech-heavy stocks).
First, it asks: is the overall U.S. stock market in a healthy long-term uptrend? It uses SPY (the S&P 500) and compares today’s price with its 200-day average. Above that line = stronger backdrop; below it = weaker backdrop.
When the backdrop looks strong, it usually buys TQQQ. But if the market looks overheated, it becomes more cautious. To judge “overheated,” it uses RSI, which is like a temperature gauge from 0 to 100 based on recent price moves. Very high readings suggest prices may have run up too far too fast. In that case, the strategy temporarily shifts into a mix of more defensive or alternative holdings such as utilities (XLU), consumer staples (XLP), gold (GLD), short-term Treasury funds (BIL, SHY), the U.S. dollar (UUP), oil (USO), Treasury trade funds (TMF/TMV), or a volatility product (UVXY). It picks the 4 that have been acting strongest very recently.
If the market is still strong but not overheated, it chooses between QQQ and TQQQ. QQQ is the regular Nasdaq-100 fund; TQQQ is the much more aggressive 3x version. So in calm/normal bullish conditions, the strategy leans heavily toward big U.S. tech stocks, often with leverage.
When the broad market looks weak (SPY below its 200-day average), the strategy becomes more tactical. If TQQQ or SPY looks deeply sold off, it may still buy TQQQ or UPRO (a 3x S&P 500 fund) to try to catch a rebound. If weakness continues and TQQQ is below its own short-term trend line, it spreads money across 4 relatively steadier “defensive” picks from a basket that can include utilities, staples, gold, cash-like Treasuries, oil, volatility, and even inverse Nasdaq exposure through SQQQ.
In plain English: this is an aggressive market-timing strategy that wants to ride big upswings in tech, step aside when things look too hot, and sometimes make short-term rebound or hedge bets when markets are weak.
Out-of-sample edge: ~78% annualized return vs ~21% for the S&P, with better risk-adjusted metrics (Sharpe ≈1.29, Calmar ≈1.59). Expect higher drawdowns (~49%), but with dynamic tech-focused growth and risk controls.
