About
A tactical strategy built around big U.S. tech stocks: hedge with volatility after a sharp surge, buy an aggressive rebound after a sharp drop, otherwise sit in a diversified defensive mix.
This strategy watches QQQ, a fund that represents big U.S. growth/tech stocks like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, and Google.
It uses a simple “speedometer” called RSI, which measures whether QQQ has moved up or down very quickly over the last 10 trading days.
• If QQQ has surged unusually hard, it buys UVXY, a very aggressive fund that often jumps when stock-market fear spikes.
• If QQQ has dropped unusually hard, it buys TQQQ, a very aggressive fund that bets on a rebound in the same tech-heavy market.
• If QQQ is in between those extremes, it spreads money evenly across 4 calmer holdings: U.S. government bonds (IEI), gold (GLD), the U.S. dollar (UUP), and dividend-paying U.S. stocks (SCHD).
Out-of-sample annualized return ~36% vs ~20% for the S&P 500, with Calmar ~1.52 and Sharpe ~1.27. A tactical, volatility-hedged tech-led strategy offering higher upside with disciplined risk through a defensive core.
