About
A rules-based “fund surfing” strategy. In calmer markets it buys the most beaten‑down fund (often tech/semis). When fear spikes, it either plays short‑term rebounds (including commodities) or parks in leveraged Treasuries, choosing the calmer side.
It first checks a market “fear” gauge (UVXY). If fear isn’t extreme, it buys one fund that looks most beaten down over the last month from a small menu (S&P 500, tech/semis, or short‑term Treasuries).
If fear is high, it either buys two quick‑rebound picks from stocks/commodities/safe bonds (based on last‑week moves), or, if markets are too rough, parks in a single leveraged long‑ or short‑Treasury fund—whichever has been calmer.
Out-of-sample annualized return 48% vs the S&P 500’s 23%—driven by disciplined regime-switching that buys oversold tech/semis and, in fear spikes, shifts to Treasuries/commodities. Higher upside, but with substantially higher drawdown risk.
