About

A monthly, rules-based “risk on/risk off” strategy. It reads bond trends to decide when to lean into leveraged growth (tech, semis, Nasdaq, S&P) and when to pivot to hedges like inverse equity, energy, Treasuries, cash, or gold. Uses RSI to rank picks.
NutHow it works
Each month it asks two big questions: 1) Are conditions calm or stressed? It uses bonds to tell: if broad bonds (BND) beat short bonds (BSV) over ~3 months, it’s “risk on.” If not, it’s “risk off.” 2) If risk off, are interest rates rising or falling? It then buys either growth-heavy funds (risk on) or hedges/cash/gold (risk off). A fast SPY drop triggers an immediate panic hedge. RSI here is a simple “hot/cold” score of recent price moves used to rank choices.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annualized return ~37% vs S&P ~23%, driven by regime-switching and panic hedges that tilt to growth or hedges as conditions shift. Drawdowns can be large (≈47%), suited for higher risk tolerance seeking bigger upside.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
