About
A daily tactical strategy that rides tech uptrends, buys short‑term dips, and quickly rotates to hedges (inverse tech, volatility), bonds, the dollar, or gold when markets look overheated or trend lower, using RSI as a simple “heat meter.”
1) Check the market’s long trend: is the S&P 500 (SPY) above its 200‑day average? If yes, play offense; if no, play defense.
2) Use RSI (a 0–100 “heat meter”: high=hot, low=cold) to pick between two choices at each step.
Offense: mainly own leveraged tech (TQQQ/TECL/SOXL/UPRO); if things get “too hot,” hedge briefly with SQQQ/SPXU/UVXY or sit in short‑term bonds (SHY/SHV/STIP).
Defense: favor bonds, the US dollar (UUP), or gold (UGL). After sharp selloffs, “buy the dip” in tech but fade big one‑day spikes with quick hedges. Rebalances daily.
Out-of-sample, this strategy beats the S&P on risk-adjusted return and upside: Sharpe ~1.28 vs 1.25, annualized return ~73.8% vs 19.9%, Calmar ~1.72, alpha ~0.21. Drawdown higher (~43% vs 19%).
