A high-risk trading strategy that moves in and out of emerging markets daily, chasing strong countries in good times and shifting to bearish bets or bonds when conditions weaken.

This strategy tries to decide whether emerging-market stocks are in a healthy uptrend or a weak/downward phase. If the trend looks strong, it mostly buys emerging markets: a broad fund, a stronger high-octane version, and 4 countries with the best recent performance. If the market looks too overheated, it briefly bets on a drop. If the trend looks weak, it either looks for a bounce, bets against emerging markets, or hides in bonds.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
