About

Regime playbook: use SPY’s long trend to toggle growth vs defense. In uptrends hold a stock+bond core (NTSX), add DBMF when hot; in downtrends favor gold, Treasuries, managed futures, and sometimes short tech (PSQ). 2008–2023 backtest: 19.1%/yr, -16.5% max drop.
NutHow it works
Decide regime with SPY long averages: if 200‑day > 1000‑day, long‑term up; else down. Then a 50/200‑day cross and RSI (0–100 heat meter; <30 oversold, >60 hot) pick positions: NTSX (stock+bond core); add DBMF (managed‑futures) when hot; buy XLK (tech) on QQQ dips; else use GLD (gold) and Treasuries (SHY/IEF/TLT). In hard downtrends it may use PSQ (short QQQ) or the best of RSP/RPV/QUAL/BTAL.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy matches the S&P on risk-adjusted return (Sharpe ~1.33) while cutting max drawdown from 18.8% to 10.8% and preserving a strong Calmar ~1.93. Slightly lower annualized return, but far better downside protection and resilience.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
