About
A two-part “risk on / risk off” strategy: it chases beaten-down leveraged tech funds when the market is calm, but quickly hides in short-term Treasuries when the market gets too volatile.
This strategy splits your money into 2 equal halves and asks one main question: “Is the stock market calm enough to take risk?” It uses SPY (a fund tracking the S&P 500) as its market thermometer.
If the market looks calm, it buys whichever choice has been the most out of favor lately among a short list: TECL (3x leveraged U.S. tech stocks), TQQQ (3x leveraged Nasdaq stocks), and sometimes IEF (medium-term U.S. government bonds) or SHY (very short-term U.S. government bonds/cash-like holdings).
If the market looks too jumpy, it moves to SHY, a safer parking place.
Out-of-sample annualized return ~38% vs SPY ~20%, with Calmar ~0.86. In calm markets it targets beaten-down leveraged tech; in volatile periods it parks in Treasuries—offering upside with downside protection, though drawdowns can be large.
