About
A market-timing strategy that swings between very aggressive tech funds and safer Treasury bonds, using recent market turbulence as a risk switch and buying the recent laggard in calmer periods.
This strategy first checks how jumpy the U.S. stock market has been lately using SPY, a fund that tracks the S&P 500.
If markets are calm, it buys just 1 fund: whichever has been weakest lately out of TECL, TQQQ, and TLT. TECL and TQQQ are very aggressive tech-heavy funds; TLT is long-term U.S. government bonds.
If markets are somewhat shaky, it puts half in that “weakest” fund and half in SHY, a safer short-term Treasury fund.
If markets are very shaky, it moves to defense: half SHY and half TLT.
Out-of-sample, this dynamic strategy rotates between leveraged tech and Treasuries to capture bigger upside. It delivers ~42.6% annualized return vs SPY’s ~20.9%, with Calmar ~1.0 and Sharpe ~1.13 — but higher drawdowns in crises.
