About
A simple switch: if the stock market has been beating cash lately, it goes aggressively into leveraged stock funds. If not, it moves into a more defensive mix of utilities, gold, and energy.
Each day, the strategy compares how “cash-like” Treasury bills (BIL) did over the last 60 days versus the U.S. stock market (SPY).
If cash did as well or better, it treats that as a warning sign and splits money evenly across utilities (VPU), gold (GLD), and energy (XLE).
If stocks beat cash, it gets aggressive and splits evenly between UPRO and TQQQ, which are high-risk funds that aim for about 3x the daily move of major stock indexes.
Out-of-sample: ~32.8% annualized return vs SPY ~20%, with Calmar ~1.01. Uses regime-switching to own levered stock exposure in strong markets and defensive assets when cash wins. Higher drawdowns (~32.6%) than SPY (~18.8%).
