This strategy splits money across several buckets. One bucket tries to ride strong tech markets using aggressive funds, but quickly retreats to cash, gold, or “fear” funds when markets look overheated or shaky. Other buckets stay defensive using bonds, gold, the U.S. dollar, and special hedges tied to market volatility. In short: it chases upside in good times and hides fast in rough times.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
