About

A daily, rules-based playbook that tilts into Nasdaq/tech (and sometimes semis or 2× equity) when trends are strong, and shifts to defense (US dollar, anti‑beta, commodities, materials, or gold miners) when signals weaken, using multiple macro and risk filters.
NutHow it works
Daily, it asks: are US stocks in an uptrend (SPY above its 200‑day average)? If yes, it favors growth (Nasdaq/tech) with simple momentum tests (RSI = a 0–100 score of recent gains vs losses; below ~30 is “washed out”). Short‑ vs medium‑term trend checks can upgrade to semiconductors, or, if weak, shift to defense: long US dollar (USDU) plus an anti‑beta hedge (BTAL). Macro dials decide when to use 2× stock funds (QLD/SSO) or tilt toward commodities (PDBC, OILK), materials (XLB), or gold miners (GDXJ), guided by bond (TLT), dollar (UUP), and TIP vs STIP trends. If stocks aren’t in an uptrend, it prefers defensive sleeves. It also compares recent volatility/drawdowns to pick the calmer option.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy beats the S&P: higher risk-adjusted return (Sharpe ~1.74 vs 1.49), higher annualized return (~36% vs 25%), and lower drawdown (~17% vs 18.8%). Dynamic growth/defense tilts aim for bigger gains with calmer risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
