About

A daily, rule-based Gold-and-miners strategy that uses RSI and moving-average signals to tilt between levered gold/miner ETFs (UGL/NUGT), their inverse hedges (JDST/DUST), base gold (GLD), and cash-like safety assets, aiming for upside in favorable momentum while dampening risk in choppy markets.
NutHow it works
What the strategy does for you, in plain terms: - It runs every day and decides where to put your money among gold and gold-related assets and a safety/cash sleeve. - It looks at momentum signals (RSI) for several assets (GLD, UGL, NUGT, GDX, JDST, DUST) and checks if prices are above or below short moving averages to confirm a trend. - If momentum for gold looks strong (low RSI on GLD and favorable price trends), it tends to tilt toward bullish, levered bets on gold and miners (UGL, NUGT). If momentum is weaker or overbought (high RSI) or trends look shaky, it shifts toward hedges or cash (JDST, DUST, BIL, SHY/SHV, UUP, SPYV, SVXY). - The strategy uses nested rules to decide between competing signals. It also groups related bets (a "wrapper" concept) so that positions in miners and their inverse plays can be activated together under certain conditions. - The overall aim is to capture upside in gold and miners when momentum is favorable while staying partially protected in cash or risk-off assets when momentum deteriorates. - Important caveat: levered ETFs can swing a lot; this approach is tactical, not passive, and is designed for discrete market regimes rather than steady growth in all conditions.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
