About

Mostly sits in cash-like T‑bills and jumps into VIXY when major stock ETFs look overheated or after a sharp drop‑then‑bounce, aiming to catch volatility spikes. High risk when in VIXY.
NutHow it works
It flips between two funds: VIXY (tracks the market’s “fear” via VIX futures) and BIL (T‑bills/cash‑like). 1) If many big U.S. stock/sector funds look extremely “hot” over ~2 weeks (RSI≈75–80; a short‑term heat score), it buys VIXY, betting on a pullback/volatility spike. 2) If none are hot but the Nasdaq 100 (TQQQ) fell >12% in 6 days and then jumped >5.5% in 1 day, it also buys VIXY. Otherwise it stays in BIL.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy targets volatility to boost results: 27.9% annualized vs 20.1% S&P, and lower max drawdown (16.6% vs 18.8%), delivering stronger risk-adjusted upside with cash-like protection in calm markets.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
