About

A tactical oil-and-energy strategy: when oil trends up it owns oil ETFs or leading energy stocks; when trend weakens it moves to T‑bills, Treasuries, gold, or the dollar. Uses simple trend/strength signals, rebalanced daily; sometimes uses 2× oil (UCO).
NutHow it works
Goal: ride oil uptrends, sidestep downtrends. It checks whether oil ETFs (DBO/OILK/UCO=oil funds) sit above/below recent average prices (moving averages). If up: buy oil funds or the strongest big oil/refiners (XOM, CVX, COP, VLO, MPC, CVE, DINO; XLE). If weak: rotate to cash‑like T‑bills (SHV/BSV), Treasuries (TLT/IEF), gold (GLD) or the US dollar (UUP). It uses RSI (a speedometer of buying vs selling) and short‑term momentum to choose. Rebalanced daily; may use UCO (2× oil) or ERY (inverse energy).
CheckmarkValue prop
Diversified, trend‑driven energy rotation with built‑in risk controls. It captures oil uptrends while hedging to cash/gold/FX when momentum fades, offering meaningful diversification versus the S&P—even as out‑of‑sample results warn of higher downturn risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
