A market-switching strategy: in bad markets it buys major stock dips with leveraged funds; in good markets it holds an aggressive stock/bond mix, and moves to a defensive basket when conditions weaken.

This strategy first asks: has the S&P 500 had a bad year? If yes, it treats the market as bearish and only buys sharp short-term drops in big U.S. stock indexes using amplified funds like TQQQ and UPRO; otherwise it sits in a defensive mix of dollar strength, gold, staples, and short-term bonds. If the year has not been bad, it treats the market as bullish. Then it holds an aggressive mix of amplified U.S. stocks plus long-term Treasury bonds, but switches back to the same defensive mix if the market starts wobbling.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
