About

A daily-rebalanced, cash-backed strategy that tilts between QQQ, QLD, and QID based on short-term QQQ momentum; uses 1-day and 5-day lookbacks to pick long, short, or cash positions. 3-year roughs: AR ~54.9%, max drawdown ~31.9%.
NutHow it works
Every trading day, the strategy starts with 100% cash and then looks at QQQ’s most recent price moves to decide what to own. It checks two momentum tests on QQQ: - A 1-day test: did QQQ rise in the very last day? If yes, the code considers two options using leveraged ETFs: QID (short QQQ) or QLD (2x long QQQ). - If the 1-day test isn’t met, a 5-day test is checked: has QQQ fallen more than about 5% over the last 5 days? If so, the strategy buys the plain QQQ ETF. If neither condition triggers, it stays in cash. The objective is to capture short-term momentum or rebound opportunities using three Nasdaq-related funds, with daily rebalancing.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: 32.8% annualized return vs 23.6% for the S&P, with Sharpe ~1.27 and Calmar ~1.17. Nasdaq momentum tilt to QQQ/QLD/QID aims for higher upside with measured risk—drawdowns can be larger in Nasdaq regimes.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
