Using 14d SPY RSI to Rotate Into Large Cap Growth or Large Cap Value

About

Monthly style rotation: if SPY’s recent‑strength score (RSI) beats RSP’s, buy SPHQ (quality/growth‑tilted large caps); otherwise buy PWV (large‑cap value). Seeks to follow whichever style the market is favoring at the moment.
NutHow it works
Once a month, compare a 14‑day “recent strength” score (RSI, 0–100) for two S&P 500 versions: SPY (mega‑cap, growth‑tilted) vs RSP (equal‑weight, more value/size). If SPY’s score is higher, own SPHQ (quality‑tilted large caps). Otherwise own PWV (large‑cap value). SPHQ often leans to tech/healthcare; PWV to financials/energy/industrials. Hold until next month.
CheckmarkValue prop
Regime-rotation between SPHQ and PWV using RSI(14) leadership vs SPY/RSP. In out-of-sample tests, it targets similar upside with lower drawdowns vs S&P 500, plus a simple monthly, low-turnover rule.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
