About

Daily, rule-based, fully invested (or in cash) momentum strategy using levered ETFs (UPRO, TECL) with risk-off shifts to cash/bonds; SPY drives signals via RSI and trend checks; tax-friendly wrapper (No K-1) and frequent rebalancing.
NutHow it works
Every day the system evaluates momentum and trend signals using SPY as the benchmark. If SPY shows strong momentum and is above key trend lines, the model selects a levered ETF (for example UPRO for broad market or TECL for tech) to own at 100% weight. If signals weaken (e.g., RSI is very high/low, SPY falls below a moving average, or other risk checks trigger), it shifts to cash or bonds (e.g., BIL, IEI, TLT, TMF) and may stay there until signals improve. The rules are expressed as nested IF statements using RSI windows (7, 10, 14, 60 days) and moving-average checks (e.g., 200-day MA). The design aims to capture upside in trending markets with leverage while defending against drawdowns by moving into cash/bonds. “No K-1” suggests a tax-efficient wrapper in some accounts. Daily rebalance means positions can flip frequently, which increases turnover and risk but aligns with a momentum-driven approach.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annualized return ~56% vs ~23% for the S&P, powered by daily momentum with 3x levered ETFs and risk-off shifts to cash/bonds; tax-friendly No-K-1 wrapper. Higher upside, but larger drawdowns than the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
