A high-risk market-timing strategy that usually bets aggressively on big U.S. stocks through 3x Dow exposure, but can switch to cash, bonds, bearish positions, or volatility trades when markets look dangerous.
NutHow it works
This strategy usually holds UDOW, a fund that aims to move about 3 times the daily move of the Dow Jones index of 30 major U.S. companies. It watches the broad market for signs of strength, weakness, panic, or overheating. If things look normal, it owns UDOW. If the market looks too hot, too shaky, or starts breaking down, it may switch to cash-like T-bills, long-term Treasury bonds, a fund that rises when the S&P 500 falls, or a volatility fund.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers.
