About
Own QQQ when the S&P 500 is in an uptrend with improving lows; switch to TLT if that improvement isn’t there; rotate to dollar/cash/short bonds in downtrends; and use a volatility ETF or inverse QQQ as short‑term hedges when markets get extreme.
1) If Nasdaq momentum looks extremely hot (a 0–100 “hot/cold” score on a leveraged Nasdaq fund is above 79), buy a volatility ETF (UVXY) that jumps when fear spikes.
2) Otherwise, check the S&P 500 (SPY): is price above its 200‑day average? If no, pick one defensive ETF: US dollar (UUP), cash‑like (GSY), or short‑term bonds (VCSH).
3) If yes, ask: are recent drops smaller than earlier ones (shallower “lows”)? If no, buy long Treasuries (TLT). If yes, buy big‑tech (QQQ) unless the fear gauge (VIX ETF) is extremely hot—then briefly hold inverse QQQ (PSQ).
Out-of-sample Sharpe ~0.87 and 13.6% annualized return, with SPY beta ~0.55. It blends trend-driven growth with hedges and defensive rotations, offering diversification and a steadier ride than SPY—even with higher drawdowns.
