About

Daily switch between SPY (whole U.S. market) and XLP (defensive staples) based on a simple bond stress test: if long‑term Treasuries (TLT) stumbled more than short‑term (SHY) over the last ~2 weeks, hold SPY; otherwise hold XLP.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks which fell harder over the last ~2 weeks: long‑term U.S. Treasury bonds (TLT) or short‑term Treasuries (SHY). If long‑term fell more, it puts 100% into the broad U.S. stock market fund SPY. Otherwise it puts 100% into Consumer Staples stocks (XLP). Rechecked daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample performance shows SPY-like upside (~23.87%/yr) with a built-in rate-regime tilt to defensiveness (XLP). Sharpe and Calmar are near SPY’s (~1.42 and ~1.27), delivering steady, risk-controlled growth and rate-shock resilience.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
