About

A daily switch between SPY (broad US stocks) and XLP (defensive consumer staples) based on bond moves: if long Treasuries (TLT) dropped more than short Treasuries (SHY) over ~11 days, hold SPY; otherwise hold XLP.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks which Treasury bond fund had the bigger worst dip over ~2 weeks: TLT (long‑term Treasuries) or SHY (short‑term Treasuries). If TLT fell more than SHY, it holds SPY (broad US stocks). Otherwise it holds XLP (consumer‑staples, a defensive stock sector). It never holds TLT/SHY; they’re just the signal.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample SPY/XLP rotation using TLT/SHY signals offers SPY-like upside (~23.87% annual) with Sharpe ~1.42, Calmar ~1.27, and max drawdown ~18.76%, plus built-in risk discipline vs SPY for defensive tilts in stress markets.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
