An aggressive market-timing strategy that usually rides leveraged Nasdaq gains, but switches into volatility, inverse Nasdaq, or short-term bonds when markets look overheated or weak.

This strategy makes one big bet at a time, mostly on fast-moving tech funds. When the market looks healthy, it usually buys TQQQ, a fund that tries to deliver 3x the daily move of the Nasdaq-100. If prices have risen too far too fast, it switches to UVXY, a volatility fund that tends to jump when markets panic. When the market looks weaker, it becomes defensive: it may buy beaten-down tech funds for a rebound, bet against the Nasdaq with SQQQ, or sit in short-term bonds (BSV).

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
